My Story

RESCUE ONLY DEADLINE 5PM 01/15/25 Name: Bosley Animal ID: A832331 Age: 4 years Weight: 59 lbs. About: Bosley is a 4-year-old tricolor mixed breed pup who is looking for a loving and understanding home. Given to his owners as a puppy, Bosley lived in that home for four years. He reportedly did well with small dogs, was crate trained, and was described as energetic and protective. Bosley was surrendered to the shelter after recent incidents in the home. A teenager was laying in the backyard and Bosley was jumping on him; Bosley was pushed away and a bite occurred. A second incident occurred when a visitor to the home was bitten. Its important to note that there may have been some forced handling that Bosley was not comfortable with. In the shelter, Bosley has been friendly and affectionate with shelter staff and volunteers, with one of them saying Hes precious. Timid and a bit stoic but enjoys affection. Bosley can be high-energy at times, so he will thrive in a home that can provide him with plenty of exercise, such as regular walks or playtime in a securely fenced yard. He is a sweet boy who is eager to please; he knows how to sit for treats and enjoys human interaction. Bosley shares his kennel with another PACC pup and has been tolerant of other dogs in playgroup, engaging in gentle play. He may benefit from a home with another dog to help him socialize and expend his energy. If you are an experienced dog owner with the patience and understanding to help Bosley thrive, please visit PACC to meet him. Adoption Process: Interested parties: Must visit PACC before the 5:00 PM January 15, 2025, deadline to meet with an adoption counselor who will go over notes and then introduce you to ensure that its a good fit. Are encouraged to reach out to a rescue group ASAP (even before coming to PACC), to start the rescue approval process. Have the rescue contact PACC [email protected] if approved to pull. Collaboration with Rescue Groups: Rescue groups are encouraged to reach out to PACC early if they are able to pull this animal into their rescue (and what requirements they would have: interested adoptive party, alteration etc.) If an IP has not already contacted a rescue, PACC will notify all partnered rescue groups of an interested party and request their assistance. Rescue groups are encouraged to start their adoption process with any interested parties who have contacted them directly and email PACC at [email protected]. Please note that it is ultimately up to the rescue group's discretion to decide whether to proceed with adoption. Partnered Rescue Groups can pull any dogs on Rescue Only Deadline at any time without an interested party. Home Management Plan Bite History- Minor bite- owner's son was lying in the backyard, and the dog was trying to jump on him. The son pushed him and was bitten by the dog. Severe bite- son's friend of family went to pet dog on his head, was bitten multiple times on right arm and right hand Children Caution Kids should not be left alone with any dog, always monitor interactions between your child and dog. Rough housing or grabbing at the dog could stress the dog out and lead to unwanted behaviors. Give the dog a safe space to escape the kids, we recommend a kennel. Keep draglines on for at least two weeks or until the dog is comfortable with the children. Potential Under socialized behaviors Bosley needs to go home with a strong handler. Due to fear behaviors, they may panic over small things and could potentially attempt to flee by bolting on leash. Needs time to decompress in a home, this could take 3 weeks to 3 months if not longer. If dog is friendly, a confident dog could help bring them out of their shell. Go slow with your new dog and do not force handling, this could make the dog fear bite. Your new dog will not be affectionate immediately after adoption, they will need patience. send home with martingale collar and flat clip leash Potential Flight Risk Bosley needs to go home with a strong handler. Keep a dragline on them for at least 2 weeks, this will help you handle the dog easier. When outside, make sure to keep ahold of their leash until they have settled into the home. Dont leave them outside unattended, make sure you monitor them outside. send home with martingale collar and flat clip leash
