My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ Brody, 5 years old, neutered male, Cattle dog/Pitbull mix, 65 pounds. He is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Brody is a perfect older guy - young and energetic, and up for activities and adventures, but seasoned enough to appreciate couch rotting with Netflix on repeat while the AC blows his ideal 72-74 degrees. He loves cuddling up with a silly expression on his face, most often with his tongue sticking out. He doesn't mind being dressed up in silly costumes for the holidays or going out in his rodeo best! Brody plays best with female dogs who are on the submissive side, and given his size and love of running, may be too much for a smaller dog. He is confident enough on his own to be the only dog in the home and most definitely needs a backyard of his own to run around in. He's a very friendly, sociable and cuddly guy with his human, and is quite lovable - enjoying the opportunity to meet strangers and loving the kids he's met thus far. We would recommend a home with older children who will understand and respect animal behavior cues, and who are stable on their feet (8-10+). Brody would love to have someone chase him around but may accidentally knock over kids who are young. Brody is not a fan of the felines, so no cats for him please. Brody is a true gentleman on the leash and walks close by with a loose leash. He is fully housebroken and does exceptional in his crate. Since he shares a home with other dogs, he is crated when unsupervised. He absolutely loves his stuffed toys and has a funny habit of biting the faces off... ;-D Brody is smart, treat motivated and eager to please. He thrives in a home with structure, rules and boundaries, and lots of opportunities for hikes, walks or trail runs. His foster mom has worked with him a lot so his behavior and obedience has significantly improved, but he can still be reactive toward male dogs or other dominant/assertive females. Brody would do best with an owner with prior cattle dog/pitbull experience. These dogs are incredibly smart, loyal and make excellent companions, but they require a routine, structure and training to minimize unwanted behaviors from boredom or lack of mental/physical stimulation. Brody has come so far in his time in rescue and is most deserving of a patient, loyal home with Pawrents who see the potential in him. Having a job or learning new skills like scent work, dock diving, agility or obedience would be a fantastic way to bond with Brody and satisfy his developmental needs. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him?
