My Story
Meet Brodie, a true survivor with a heart full of hope.
Picked up as a stray by San Antonio Animal Control, Brodie’s journey hasn’t been easy. At the shelter, they discovered a bullet lodged in his left leg, and he was heartbreakingly listed for euthanasia. But on his last day, we stepped in and pulled him to safety.
Brodie’s story didn’t end there. On the way out of the shelter, fear took hold, and he managed to slip away from his handler, disappearing into the unknown. For six long months, he was missing, but we never gave up. Finally, Brodie was found by the humane society, and his microchip brought him back to us. It seems that during his time away, someone cared for him, giving him the strength to return.
Since being with us, Brodie has shown nothing but sweetness and gentleness. He walks well on a leash, has balanced energy, and loves both giving and receiving affection. While he can be a bit shy and timid when meeting new people, Brodie is never reactive or aggressive.
We believe Brodie spent much of his life on the streets, and he’s still adjusting to the comforts of being an indoor family pet. Each day brings new experiences for him, and he’s taking it all in stride.
Brodie gets along well with dogs, and with the right approach, he can coexist with dog-friendly cats. Whether you’re a family with older kids, an adventurous soul, or someone who enjoys quiet days at home, Brodie could be the perfect companion.
At 2-3 years old and weighing 55 pounds, Brodie is a mix of Husky, Shepherd, and Border Collie. He’s healthy, and though the bullet in his leg remains, it poses no threat to his well-being. Instead, it serves as a reminder of his past—one that’s now firmly behind him as he looks forward to a brighter future with a loving family.
