My Story

Hello there! I’m Brownie, and I would love to be your new cuddle buddy. I weigh 30 pounds and am a 3-year-old mixed breed female. My foster parents believe I may be a mix of Blackmouth Cur and Terrier. I am a shy yet very curious girl. I enjoy making new friends, both humans and dogs, but it takes me a few minutes to warm up. I like both big and small dogs, and I love to run and wrestle with them. Some noises scare me, particularly loud trucks, but I am becoming accustomed to them. I have never met any children, but I am very polite and docile. I am somewhat prey-driven and enjoy chasing after bunnies and squirrels, so I’m not sure how I would behave around cats. I am extremely snuggly and spoon my foster mom every night in bed. I also love to lay next to her on the couch. I like to follow her around the house and gently bump my nose behind her knees to let her know I’m there. I do fine in a crate, but I would prefer to be with someone who is around frequently. I also love to play! I am learning to fetch by bringing the ball back and enjoy running around in circles when I’m excited. I walk well on a leash without pulling; however, I haven’t quite figured out how to walk in a straight line yet. I am almost fully potty trained; I have a few accidents occasionally, but I do my best to avoid them. I’m still learning basic commands, but I respond to a firm "no!" if I do something naughty and come when I’m called. I love treats and am sure to learn tricks with your help! As long as I get a few good zooms around the yard, I am a very polite and sweet little girl. Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. An application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee adoption but does allow us to begin the review process. Please email [email protected] for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant (adopter) for any reason. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family.
