Bruce

Bruce is fostered in Vancouver, Washington and available to meet potential families. He is a South Texas pup who was picked up by animal control when he was wandering around town. His owners didn't reclaim him, which is unfortunately common in the rural communities that we help. With an estimated birthday of February 12, 2024, Bruce is now about 10 months old. He weighs 41 lbs. and is done with most of his growing. As a basset hound mix, he is long and short. He is 13” tall from his shoulders to the ground. His back is 26” long from his neck to the base of his tail. Bruce found the shelter to be a scary place and was nervous there. However, he is doing really well with his foster family and showing his personality and the things he loves. He is fostered with small to large dogs and does well with them. He also lives with cats and is respectful of them (although kittens are kind of scary!). He adores playing fetch and is great at dropping the ball at your feet so you can throw it again. He loves squeaky toys and will happily carry them around and then take a nap on a pile of his favorite toys. He also enjoys a good benebone chew toy. Bruce loves his crate as a place of safety and will hang out in the crate. He sleeps all night long in the crate. He is potty trained and will make whiny grunts when he needs you to take him outside. He is a smart boy and could easily learn to use a dog door if your house has one. He is doing well with leash walking and does not pull. He is still learning to stay on one side of the human and will sometimes cross in front of you. He will get the hang of it. Bruce has been neutered, vaccinated twice for DHPP, bordetella vaccinated, microchipped and is current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention. Does Bruce sound like the best boy for you?
