Meet Bruce! Bruce is a handsome fellow looking for a home. He is a 5 year old, beagle mix that has spent some time in foster getting healthy! When Bruce came to us, it was determined that he may have medical issues that could cause a shorter life. One of which was an enlarged spleen. However, after several months in foster, he has only continued to blossom into the happiest boy. We want to try to find an adopter for Bruce so he has a permanent place to call his own for however long he may have left. Here is what his foster has to say about him! Bruce is above all extremely polite. When he needs something, he'll come and sit to look at you and eventually do a very, very light touch with his paw.
He does not beg at the table and does not try to take anything from your plate. When offered, he takes food from your fingers extremely gently.
Bruce is super happy upon your return to home and about going for walks, expressed by leaping straight up about 3-4 feet.
He LOVES to go for walks and is extremely compliant on a lead but he does feel the need to growl at other dogs he sees, particularly if they are big. He doesn't go crazy but he likes to let you know he sees the other dog...
He is absolutely not destructive. He has yet to munch on anything, including his toys even. But he does like to chase squirrels in the backyard. He hasn't caught anything yet, but I think he could. He can easily leap all around the furniture, but he is such a gentleman all of the time, he never messes anything up.
Bruce also loves looking out the window, and he is a watch dog. If the person is down the street , this is a very quiet "whoa". If the person is at the door, he has an impressive bark for his size. He is, however, absolutely friendly to anyone who you invite into the house and has an excellent memory for visitors." If you are interested in meeting Bruce or have questions about his medical concerns, please email
