My Story

BRUNO NEEDS A FOSTER! Please read below to see if you may be a fit for this big guy! Welcome Bruno! Bruno is finally in Rescue thanks to our phenomenal village of volunteers and AWCR Family! Bruno is an 8 month old, male Weimaraner with Mark of the Hound coloring who is trying to find his people in the world. He was surrendered after being taken in by a well-meaning family from a breeder that was unable to find a home for him. Unfortunately, the move from his original home to a new place where he knew no one, traumatized his poor brain because he was out in the world alone and outside after growing up with his siblings who all were eventually sold to their new family. Bruno, however, was the last one in the bunch and had no interest by potential families. As a result, he was very cautious and afraid to interact with people and it took a few days to work through his anxiety. As he started waking up from his snooze in the car, he began to explore the exam room, taking a few minute naps, coming closer to our team and even nuzzling up and joining us on the sofa for a few minutes. He was a champ with his vaccines and is loving the attention from everyone even if a little cautious! Bruno had quite a stressful day but he never once growled or showed any threatening behaviors he was just scared and by the time we left the vet, he was taking treats gently from our hands and was enjoying the ear and face rubs! He let us touch his teeth (which are still glowingly white!), paws, ears and even let the vet feel his man parts to make sure all is well (hell be neutered once he settles in at his foster or adopted family). Bruno needs a home, that will help him learn to be a family Weim and teach him that he can trust humans which we think he will learn quickly! He wants to interact and be loved on, but hes just not sure. The ideal home will be one that will be patient with him and allow him to blossom at his own pace, as he learns to navigate his new environment. He would love a doggy companion that will teach him the ropes. Hes a big boy and will get bigger (his paws are huge!), so we recommend no small children or small animals (because we dont know enough about his prey drive). Once he is more confident in his skin hell remind you that he is still a puppy and will need all the things a Weimaraner puppy needs specifically, lots of exercise so an active family is a must! It's a tall order, we know, but we want the best for this sweet boy! If thats you send us an application at www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org/adopt
