My Story

Here’s Buddys story The vet called me last year about a Great Pyrenees they had in their kennels from being a stray in California with no claims or adoptions and if he didn’t find somewhere to go, he would be facing a terrible fate. I was full at the time, but made a post pleading for help and found a temporary (so we thought) foster who offered to take him in until I could find him a forever home. The vet was worried he may not be dog friendly as he didn’t really like the kennel or other dogs there. He has always been strong minded. I took him to meet his foster family and miraculously he did amazing with the other two dogs and especially formed an attachment with his human dad who was wheelchair bound and suffered from severe Parkinson’s. He was there a few weeks when I called to figure out when I could come get him to take him to this meet and greet and to my surprise because of his strong bond with his dad, the couple decided to keep him. Of course he had adjustments to make and it wasn’t always completely smooth sailing because he was very protective over his dad and had to get used to nurses coming in and family visiting etc. Buddy’s dad passed away a few weeks ago and his human mom reached out because he’s been struggling in the home and acting out. He has been more dominant and aggressive with his dog siblings and being aggressive with his mom sometimes if she try’s to get him to do something he doesn’t want to do. I do think he is distraught over losing his person as an animal grieves just as we do and his dad passed in the home. The mom is just wanting to see if there may be a home out there for him as an only dog or with a strong owner, as she may be downsizing and is dealing with her own grief as well. He is neutered and fully vetted and has been an inside dog for the previous 7 months, but good boy and has learned lots of commands and learned wireless fence to be outside. He is not a fan of the kennel. Here are pictures of him from his previous two grooming outings. He was originally not a fan and now does great. He is a large boy and only around 4 years old. All this to say, if you can please share and reach out if you’re interested in meeting Buddy. His adoption would be free and we would bring him to you. If interested in having Buddy as an only dog or you are experienced with the breed and plan to continue training and working with Buddy, please reach out. Michaela 660-723-5010
