My Story
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Buddy Holly is here, and he’s ready to turn your world upside down with his charm, goofiness, and heart of gold. This 1-year-old, 40-pound retriever mix is basically the rock star of dogs—he’s got the moves, the grooves, and the cutest puppy eyes you’ve ever seen. Plus, he’s pretty sure Weezer wrote all their songs just for him. (“Buddy Holly” Coincidence I think not.)
Buddy’s hobbies include:
*Jamming out to car ride playlists (he’s an excellent co-pilot).
*Playing with stuffies like it’s an Olympic sport.
*Being a crate-trained gentleman.
*Crushing house training like it’s his side gig.
This easygoing pupper loves all the hoomans and every animal he meets. He’s the social butterfly your home has been missing, but don’t let his chill vibes fool you—he’s still a puppy, which means he occasionally gets a little derpy. But hey, with toys, playtime, and some good ol’ enrichment, he’ll be the star student in no time.
Buddy Holly dreams of a forever home with active people who’ll shower him with attention, adventures, and belly rubs. So, if you’re ready to say, “You’re mine,” Buddy says, “I’m yours!” Grab this sweet boy, and let the good times roll!

**Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).
The adoption fee for puppies covers initial deworming, puppy vaccinations, microchip, and spay/neuter at the rescue's approved vet at 6 months of age. Please see our website for more information.
2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals:
Puppies under 12 months - $350
Dogs over 12 months - $250

*Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
**Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
