Training Needs: Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained:Working on it! Hi there, I'm Calista, a sweet Lab mix puppy ready to find my forever home! I’m a very playful pup, especially when I’m with other dogs. I haven’t met any cats yet, so I’m not sure how I’d feel about them. I’m currently living with a 9-month-old, a 3-year-old, and a 4-year-old, and I do really well with them! Sometimes I get a little too excited and nip at the toddlers when they’re running around, but my foster family is helping me learn to be more gentle. I’m outgoing and love meeting new people—everyone is a friend to me! I’m still working on some things, like not chewing on everything or pottying indoors, so I can’t be left out of my crate unsupervised just yet. But don’t worry, I’m a quick learner, and I’m already getting the hang of basic commands like “sit” and “shake.” Leash walking is also something I’m working on; I’ve gotten better, but sometimes I still try to put the brakes on during walks. I’m protective of my food, especially around my sister Camilla, so my foster family is helping me learn to be more relaxed during mealtime. I absolutely love toys—every kind you can think of! I do have some separation anxiety when I’m away from my sister, but I’m learning to be more independent. My ideal forever home would have other dogs or kids to play with. I’m a social butterfly and love being around people and other pets. I’m also a big snuggler and love giving kisses! If you’re looking for a playful, loving pup who’s ready to learn and grow with you, I’m your girl. Let’s snuggle up and make some memories together! She/He is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Unless the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will only consider applications that are within 1 hour or 40 miles of Lemont, IL. This is due to the required vetting at our partner veterinarians. If the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will allow adoptions out of state or outside of our 1 hour or 40 mile restriction. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within five days of approval. ADOPTION FEE: $500(includes spay/neuter must be done when the rescue schedules it at one of our partner vets, microchip, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine, 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease ) and a general wellness which includes dewormer, heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention) *Please understand that we will spay/neuter no younger than 16 weeks but it is the rescue's discretion when the dog will get that procedure. We know that some veterinarians recommend waiting depending on the breed's projected size but as a rescue, our goal is to prevent further unwanted, "accidental" litters. Spaying and neutering also have many benefits for cancer prevention and avoiding behavioral problems. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay and neuter procedures for cats and dogs as early as 8-16 weeks of age. We always assess and speak with our partner vets when is the best time to perform this procedure. Interested? Submit an adoption application at www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt
