Calliope

Our adoption application can be found at the bottom of this pet's bio. Once your application has been approved, we can arrange a virtual meet and greet with you and Calliope. Calliope is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up. Meet Calliope! Calliope is a 2 year old female golden retriever mix. Calliope is fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and ready to find a family to call her own! Calliope currently weighs 65 pounds. Calliope was seen hanging out around a local coffee shop for quite some time. Neighbors were feeding her and leaving water out for her, but no family ever came forward for her. Thankfully, a kind family stepped up to foster her and we were able to get her off the streets! Calliope is dog friendly and she's very laid back. She gets along great with other dogs and is friendly, sociable and enjoys playing with them! Calliope has not been tested with cats, so we're not sure how she would react to them. Calliope is kid friendly! She currently lives with an 11 month old baby and an 8 year old child. She's great with everyone and is always so gentle and allows the kids to pet her. Calliope walks great on a leash! Her foster family takes her for walks around the neighborhood and she's able to pass by dogs, cats and even chickens without reacting to them! She will stay calmly with her foster family. Calliope is fully potty trained. She's great about letting us know when she needs to go outside to potty. She is kept loose in the house when her foster family is away from the home for work or errands and she does really well with this. She mostly just relaxes and plays with her chew toys. We make sure she has chew toys to keep her occupied while we're away. Calliope is great about sharing her toys, food and treats with her doggie foster sibling! She loves chew toys and sturdy toys. She's able to rip apart stuffed toys. Calliope is pretty adaptable and we believe she'd be great in any situation she's put in! She currently lives with another dog in her foster home, but she would also do well as a solo dog. Here's a small blurb about Calliope from her foster family: Calliope is VERY sweet and affectionate. She will nuzzle her head and just melt into you. She loves to cuddle on the couch. She's very smart and quick to learn! She learned "sit" very quickly and I have no doubt that she'll be very teachable in her new home. She is patient and gentle with my kids (especially my little who is in her exploratory phase and likes to get into her food bowl). She's very easy-going and adapts well to different environments and situations. She'll make a great companion for any family! She's a little shy when meeting new men, but she warms up quickly! Her ideal home will take her for walks and give her lots of love and cuddles! She has a playful spirit and loving nature which makes her a wonderful companion!
