My Story

Captain (affectionate known as Cappy) is a cute 7-1/2 year old male Shih Tzu who was surrendered to the HSOV on August 27, 2024 because his owner/mistress could no longer take care of Cappy due to her health issues. Captain has a pale brown long smooth coat with a patch of white on his chest, a long fluffy tail, and an adorable Shih Tzu face with pale brown eyes, wiry whiskers on his short muzzle, and small floppy ears. Captain has a pronounced underbite which just adds to his charming appearance. His owner told us that Cappy is not good with cats, and he is selective about which dogs he will accept into his circle of friends. Cappy does not like to share his food and is very protective about food/treats. Cappy spent a week or so in a foster home after his arrival, and his foster mother also confirmed what his previous owner had indicated (that he doesn't get along with all dogs and that he tends to be protective of his food). These photos of Cappy were taken on September 3, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Cadince Bibbee accompanied him for outdoor 'glamour pictures'. Cappy loves attention from his people friends (and also loved being carried in Cadince's arms after his photo session). Captain weighs 15.2 lbs. He has already been neutered, so he could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV adoption application.
