My Story

AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD State: near Hartford,CT Age: 2 years DOB: 4/23/22 Weight: 43 lbs Sex: female Neutered/UTD: soon/yes Coat Color: black tri color Children under 4: no (no history) Children over 4: yes Separation Anxiety: no Other dogs:Yes Cats: unsure Crate Trained: learning House Trained: learning Obedience Trained: No Leash Trained: Learning MICROCHIP: yes ADOPTION FEE: $675 11/18/24-Carlee slept through the night again. Like Sunday morning she didn’t want to leave her crate. I went with the “give it time approach”. She did have an accident in her crate today so I cleaned around her. About an hour later she came out on her own. She had some water and a little food and is hanging out in the living room where she’s found a sunny spot. Each day seems to be just a little bit better. 11/17/24-Carlee arrived the yesterday afternoon. She made little to no eye contact with us that evening and felt safest in her crate with her back to us. She did however eat a little moist food and had a little bit of water. She was quiet all night and appeared to sleep pretty good after her travels to us. This morning after much debate on how to get her out of her crate to use the bathroom; she came out on her own when no one was looking and peed as soon as I took her out. Safe to say we were all relieved. I closed the gate door in an effort for her to spend a little time out with us. She didn’t need to interact but I was hopeful she would get the sense that no one was going to harm her here. My dogs have been great foster brothers and have given her quiet space. She and Shadow did sniff one another and were perfectly fine. The 2 cats did venture past her and she just watched them. I know there’s still a great deal of decompressing to be done but it’s nice to see her out in general pop. My daughter and her husband came over last night. We sat on the floor next to her crate quietly talking and Carlee seemed to be taking it all in.. or quietly judging us. LOL Either way you can tell she’s really studying everyone and thing. I feel like there were many wins this morning. I anticipate each day to be different as she begins to decompress and trust us all a little more. Looking forward to watching her shine. 11/15/24-Carlee is a beautiful 2 year old female black tri-color standard size Australian Shepherd. She came in from a commercial breeder that no longer needed her. She arrived into rescue today thanks to her transport & temporary foster home volunteers. She will be spayed on Monday 11/25 & will be ready to go home soon after that.
