My Story
Carlos is a gentle, shy boy whose heart is yearning for a patient and loving home to help him blossom. Life at the shelter has been overwhelming for him, but behind his nervous exterior is a dog with so much potential to thrive in a calm, understanding environment.
When Carlos first meets new people or faces unfamiliar situations, his initial reaction is to freeze or lay down, his ears tucked in uncertainty. But with gentle words, kind gestures, and some patience, Carlos begins to show his sweet and affectionate side. He'll lean into you for comfort and even gently take treats from your hand.
While Carlos is still learning about the world and how to walk on a leash, his willingness to trust is heartwarming. He has moments of bravery where he comes out of his shell, wagging his tail and seeking affection. Sitting quietly by your side, he'll rest his head in your lap, soaking in the reassurance that he's safe.
Carlos's timid behavior likely stems from undersocialization, but with time, consistency, and encouragement, he has the potential to become a confident and happy companion. Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. As a Pep's Pals Rescue direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Facetime, etc.).
Our adoption fee is $400 plus health certificate ($50), transport ($200 for most locations) and spay/neuter deposit ($100). Your spay/neuter deposit will be returned when proof of spay/neuter is provided. This adoption fee includes all current basic vaccinations, deworming, microchip (with lifetime registration), fecal analysis, spay, and a heartworm test. All dogs are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. A health exam will be completed and a health certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of transport.
