My Story

Meet Cera! I'm part of another lucky group of dogs that arrived in Bend, OR thanks again to our rescue partner and fellow non-profit Dog is My Copilot who will be providing the much needed air transport from Norman, OK. This energetic and super happy young girl is ready to bring so much joy to her person or family. This young girl would do great in an active household and one that doesn't have smaller kids. We can't say for sure, but she appears to be a mix of French Bulldog and Pit/Staffy. What we do know it, she's such a sweetheart, is super friendly with everyone and we believe she'll make a wonderful partner and companion for her person or family! If you'd like to learn more, join my interest list today by submitting your online adoption application through our website today and don't miss this opportunity to bring me home for a 3-day home trial towards my adoption. Will you be my hero?" Foster update: Meet Cera, the comet of love and affection! This sweet girl is all about being with her people-her job is "lap," and she takes it seriously! Cera is a loving and affectionate companion who enjoys spending time by your side, often curling up as your personal shadow. For such a young dog, she's remarkably chill and content to sleep most of the day, with occasional bursts of playful energy. When she's not napping, she enjoys quietly observing you as you go about your day. Cera is quick to pick up on routines and is an easy dog to live with. She happily goes into her kennel, though she may express a bit of disappointment when she realizes it's time for some alone time, but she settles down quickly and sleeps through the night. She's also become conditioned to the fact that she gets fed in her kennel and will go there patiently at mealtime, ready for her meal. Although Cera isn't a fan of cold or wet weather, she still enjoys her walks and will happily accompany you on them. She's been an absolute dream to have around in the house-affectionate, calm, and loving. Cera loves other dogs but still needs to work on her social manners. Her approach is full of energy and enthusiasm, and she's ready to jump right into play with other dogs. She can be a little intense and doesn't quite understand boundaries yet, so if she encounters a dog that isn't as energetic or doesn't share her playful spirit, she may struggle with rejection. For this reason we think she'd also do best in a home without cats. But with time and patience, Cera will learn to relax and will become the perfect companion to another dog who can match her energy. Cera is truly a special dog-she's a little mini-frenchie-pittie mix with a heart full of love and a playful spirit to match. She'll bring joy and affection to any home that can provide her with the attention, love, and eventually some playtime with other dogs to help her develop those social skills. Could Cera be the perfect fit for you? ***IMPORTANT HOLIDAY UPDATE!*** Don't miss our 12 Days of Christmas Adoption Specials! The first step to adopting a dog from SDH is to complete the adoption application. First click on the "OUR DOGS tab up above, and then click on the orange colored "Fill out an Adoption Application here" button to start the process). Once submitted, please expect 3-5 business days or sooner for processing and to hear back from us. Once you are pre-approved, your adoption application will remain on file with us for 1 year and it can go towards multiple adoptions within that 1 year time frame before it expires. To finalize an adoption you must sign the adoption contract and pay the full adoption fee of $550. The adoption fee helps cover our costs. On average, per dog, it costs SDH between $500-$700 for vetting/medical/sterilization, transport and other rescue related expenses. All dogs are rescued and do not transport to SDH until they are healthy and ready to be adopted. All dogs are examined by a veterinarian before they fly, which includes sterilization whenever possible, given standard vaccines and rabies (if age appropriate). Most dogs are sterilized before they come into our program, however if this is not the case we will spay/neuter them once they arrive at our cost. Upon their arrival, all dogs are seen for a wellness exam by SDH's medical team. Once the adoption is finalized, any further medical care or treatment will not be covered by SDH, unless discussed prior with our medical team. All known issues are disclosed to the best of our ability prior to finalizing the adoption.
