My Story

Chai is a sweet, wrinkly-skinned, short-haired 7 month old Xoloitzcuinti/Basenji mix. This petite girl started out as the most reserved out of her 2 other siblings, but she quickly fell in stride with her more outgoing sister and now helps run the pack! Chai often looks to her sister, Addison, to lead the way but she definitely adds her fair share to the puppy mischief! You can often find these spunky partners in crime side by side in action, though Chai does enjoy her alone time away from the others. Chai was found with her sister and older brother from a different litter, Ryder, on the streets of Houston. Their mother was nowhere to be found so she and her siblings had to fend for themselves until a kind lady came along and rescued them and they made their way to us! Since being here, Chai has gained lots of confidence and her playful personality has really started to shine! Chai is a smart little pup who likes to be next to her people most of the time. She never strays too far and is a good listener. She loves to be challenged and enjoys figuring out puzzles and working out how to do things on her own. She may get a little discouraged when she can't figure things out as quickly as she wants to, but she never gives up! She loves getting attention from her humans and enjoys cuddling in the bed or on the couch with you. Chai already knows the "sit" command and is very smart- this pup could learn anything with the right training! She is quite the little foodie, so treats make a great reward in her training. Chai is good with other dogs, cats, and people of all kinds. She is very resilient and would do well in most environments/households! Chai would thrive best in a home with at least one other canine companion to romp around with, but this is not required. Chai is about 40lbs currently and is expected to get no bigger than 45lbs fully grown. Chai is located in Houston TX but can be transported to most US states for adoption.
