Charlie
Adopted
Breed
American Staffordshire Terrier & German Shorthaired Pointer Mix
Thank you for your interest in adopting Charlie! If you look at pictures of the white German shorthaired pointer with liver spots, you will find a lot of dogs that are similar to Charlie.
Charlie was rescued in August from the side of a rural Alabama Highway, after his owner abandoned his responsibility by dumping two of his dogs. We did not have a plan or an open foster home so Charlie was boarded for seven weeks at the clinic, until we had a foster home in place.
Charlie lives mostly with canine friend, Maggie, but he’s good with other dogs of various ages and sizes. He and Maggie have been best buddies since September 2024. We would consider adopting them as a pair and at a two for one adoption fee to the qualifying application. We believe they are the same age.
Charlie is approximately three years old and weighs about 55 pounds. He is crate trained and he’s good inside the home. Charlie likes toys, tug of war with another dog, and his horns and antlers. He has not had any resource issues whatsoever.
Charlie will do best in a home with someone around more than absent. We will require a true fence yard, no invisible or electric fence. Charlie had an embedded collar or chain before we found him and has a one inch scar on his neck with no fur. He doesn’t remember those times. All he knows is love now. He is shy with strangers at first meeting.
Charlie has not been around young children. We do think he is safe with kids, but because of his size and Happy wiggle butt, he would do better with older kids that he cannot knock down. He barks at the cat that he has seen outside, so we think a home without cats would be best.
Charlie is neutered, with rabies, other vaccines, heartworm negative, microchip, dewormed, and receiving flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Every dog comes with their medical records.
Local Birmingham and surrounding counties Adoption fee $200 and he’s worth every cent.
Serious Adopters should fill out the application online and then we can set up a meet and greet.
