My Story

Please go to www.yvpr.org/adoptions to complete an adoption application. YVPR does not respond to applications/inquiries originating from Petfinder. Questions about our adoption process can generally be answered by reviewing the Adoption FAQ's. Charlie B is a white neutered male poodle mix that is 9 yrs old and is UTD on his shots. Charlie is a very sweet boy who is blind, but that does not stop him from getting around his foster moms home. Charlie is also on Thyroid medication twice a day and that cost $17.00 for a bottle of his medication. He needs to loose weight as he weighs 19 lbs. The vet thinks that may be the reason he is overweight or he was fed too much or both. He has managed to go down the stairs into the yard and find his way back up. It just takes time for him to learn where everything is. He does not walk on a leash because he can not see where you want him to go and if he does walk on a leash, he is slow and unsure. Charlie is a quiet guy, never makes a sound. He loves to snooze on the dog cot. When it is time for him to eat, his tail goes real fast and also when you come home. His foster mom has a doggie door, which he has a hard time with, so mom puts him outside, but when he wants to come back inside, he has learned or should say has taught his mom that when he bops the dog door flap with his nose, she is to come and open the door for him.. Charlie wears a male wrap at bedtime. He has no accidents if you make sure he goes out as he does not know how to let you know. His mom thinks when he stands up on his cot (which he loves) and wags his tail and smiles, that is when he needs to go outside ( just a guess) and she takes him out. Charlie does get along fine with the other dogs in the house, but he does not interact with them. So he would be just fine being the only dog where he can get all the attention. Foster mom does not have any children living in the home, nor cats. So we do not know how he would do. NOTE: This breed does need grooming. Charlie says he would like to meet someone that would like a companion and take care of him for the rest of his days, make sure he takes his medication and love him and have patience with him. Also he would like a cot to sleep on as shown in the pictures : ) An application must be filled out and accepted before a meet can be set up. If accepted, you will hear from us within 72 hours. You will have the opportunity to ask questions before you meet the pet; an adoption may or may not happen at that time. We do adopt outside the Yakima area IF you are able to come to Yakima to pick up your adopted pet. We do not have a kennel facility; all of our pets are in foster homes. Therefore, meets and adoptions take place at either our office or at a place chosen by the adoption coordinator. If a pet has 'Adoption Pending' beside its name, an adoption is imminent. Please fill out an application anyway because adoptions don't always go through. Your application will be kept on file for 30 days in case you find another pet you'd like to apply for. Thanks for thinking adoption and Good Luck!
