A Cautionary Tail with the Most Resilient + Innocent of Messengers Chewy has been through more than most dogs her age, but her spirit remains as bright as ever. This 2-year-old, 45-pound bundle of energy and love was first found on the streets of Philadelphia on March 3rd. After being spayed and brought up to date on all her vaccinations, she was adopted, only to end up back on the streets through no fault of her own. Four months after her initial adoption, Chewy was discovered at the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area in mid-November. We learned that her adopters had given her away, violating their signed Adoption Contract, which required them to return her to us if they couldnt keep her. To our shock, the person who ended up with Chewy had previously applied to adopt through usand had been denied. Despite enduring time on the streets, Chewys gentle and loving nature never wavered. Now safely back with her Familiar Hearts family, Chewy is the poster child for why we take our adoption vetting process so seriously. Shes completely innocent in this ordeal and is ready to find the forever home she truly deserves. Chewy is a goofy, energetic pup who loves to play, cuddle, and make everyone she meets feel special.
