My Story

Meet Chico, the canine comedian who is looking for a loving family to call his own! He's sweet, friendly, and an all-round goofball! Chico's tail spins like an airplane propeller, ready for take-off at the slightest hint of fun. He’s still working on his leash training but with a little time & patience, he could be an excellent walking or running buddy! Don't be surprised if he brings a little something home with him on his walks, he loves to hunt for treasures and bring home his findings! He’s a sociable chap, getting along well with other dogs, cats and kids alike. After a day full of play, he loves nothing more than a good cuddle. He’s not just a pet, but a companion, a playmate, and a source of endless laughter. With Chico, every day will be filled with joy and love. How did he end up here? He was found roaming the streets with his little sister and ended up in a high kill shelter in rural Louisiana. His sister was quickly adopted but Chico patiently waited for months to score his ticket to freedom and it finally came when Take Paws Rescue pulled him to safety. He’s been in rescue for several months now and we can’t figure out why this sweet boy has not been adopted yet! But don't worry, Chico's spirit has not been dampened by the wait. He's still the same cuddly, energetic, funny boy waiting for a family who appreciates his unique brand of comedy. Chico is believed to be around 2 years old, weighs around 50 lbs, he's up to date on his vaccinations, microchipped, neutered and HW negative. He has become one of the favorites at the local dog park near the rescue and plays well with all the dogs he meets but what would truly make him happy would be to land a forever home of his own, Adopt Chico and get ready for a lifetime of laughter and love! PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed.
