My Story

ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/14081 I'm searching for - Someone who won't leave me home alone for more than 4 hours, at least not until I am older. The older I am, the more I can stay home alone. I just don't want you to get mad at me if I have accidents or chew things I'm not supposed to when you leave me for too long. I'm a puppy, so I get bored quickly and when I'm bored I could get in trouble. - I am looking for my forever home, not my for right now home. So as I get bigger I need someone to teach me how to be the best dog I can be. I am young and still learning. You may want to teach me some new tricks like sit, stay, etc. Professional training will help me bond with you. That sounds like fun! - I saved the most important for last. I am hoping my new mom or dad will snuggle with me, play with me and love me forever and ever! Please note that because this puppy is so young, it has only received 2 of the required 3 puppy distemper vaccines. This is very IMPORTANT because it means that the immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age. Until then, the puppy MUST stay out of public places where it could be exposed to the germs of other dogs. These no puppy zones include all pet stores, dog parks, and for apartment dwellers, areas used by other dogs. These requirements are strictly for the puppys medical safety and longevity. This puppy is microchipped and up to date on age appropriate vaccines and monthly preventatives. This pet is expected to arrive at an Operation Paws for Homes Foster Home soon. If you are interested in adoption, please submit your application so that you may be pre-approved prior to arrival. All pets must be granted a Health Certificate in order to cross state lines and come to the rescue. Obtaining the health certificate is largely dependent on veterinary resources at the originating animal shelter so some pets may not arrive as planned. To adopt fill out the simple online application at https://ophrescue.org Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. (OPH) rescues dogs and cats of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters in NC, VA, MD, and SC, reducing the numbers being euthanized. With limited resources, the shelters are forced to put down 50-90% of the animals that come in the front door. OPH provides pet adoption services to families located in VA, DC, MD, PA and neighboring states. OPH is a 501(c)(3) organization and is 100% donor funded. OPH does not operate a shelter or have a physical location. We rely on foster families who open their homes to give love and attention to each pet before finding a forever home. All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
