My Story

Clementine is a beautiful silver lab, around 2 years old, who came to Minnesota from Arkansas to find her forever home. Clementine loves hanging around her people and will often snuggle up against you when sitting on the couch. She even tried to share her foster's lap with the 20-pound resident terrier. She has not met a lot of people in her foster home yet but her reaction to people has been friendly although her size and energy might be a little much for very young children. Clementine is house-trained, and kennel-trained, although she is not crazy about going in the kennel and will howl a bit at first but then settle down. She has been happy to sleep on the foot of her foster's bed at night and to find a nice spot on the couch or the floor of the home office to nap during the day. She knows the commands for 'sit' and 'shake'. Clementine is very food motivated, which is good for training, but she is a counter surfer and a table surfer so you will want to be aware of that. We are working on trying to break her of this habit but it will take time. She has not been on many car rides yet but did try to get into the front seat on her pickup ride to her new foster so some type of restraint to keep her from trying to help with the driving would be good. Clementine is still young and has a good amount of energy. She loves being outdoors and because of her high prey drive, she would do best with a fenced yard where she could wear off some of her energy working diligently to keep it squirrel and rabbit-free. The first smile we got from her upon her arrival was after she chased a squirrel along the fence line. She also gets very excited by looking at squirrels and passing dogs out the window. Clementine does pull when walking, especially when she sees squirrels or a distant dog. Her foster got her a Freedom No Pull Harness which helps with this, which is hers to keep when she goes to her forever home. She is currently living in her foster home with a middle-aged terrier and two senior cats. She generally ignores the cats or gives them a cursory sniff before moving on to more interesting things. The only exception has been when the cats start to play with each other, she wants to join in the fun so she needs to be re-directed. The terrier has taken a little more time to warm up and while the two of them do have fun barking at passing dogs together, for the most part, they just tolerate each other's presence although they have played a little, which she has initiated. I think she would like to have another canine companion with a similar energy level to play with if possible. Do you have a spot in your heart and on your couch for Clementine? If so, she would love to meet you!
