My Story

hug a Cloud today! CLOUD NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:Cloud Best Guess for Breed: Poodle and Maltese mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of January 2025 Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 10 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested if you have them. Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area! Special Adoption Considerations: Cloud is a truly Lucky Dog. Although he has tested positive for heartworms, treatment has been scheduled! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process. Cloud is Looking For: His forever home! This small sweetie landed in the shelter through no fault of his own and he's eager to once again have his own humans. Long sniffy walks and world exploration - yes, please! On his own four paws, please - he's not a purse dog! He's asking for daily brushing and regular professional grooming too - that coat requires maintenance and mats hurt! Most of all, though, he wants to be safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he promises tail wags and snuggles and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Is there a Cloud-shaped gap in your home and your heart? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this after he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
