I'm Comet! I might have a snowy face, but I like to say that I'm 11 years young, and the kennel workers who love me agree that I'm "beyond spunky" for my years. As you can see, I'm a gorgeous senior lady with a camera-ready smile. I love to play around, and I'm never happier than when I'm outside in the sunshine. (You can tell from my photos that I really like to show off my modeling skills.) My kennel team agrees that I am very neat and clean when it comes to my doggie bed and kennel area. I get along well with all the dogs I live with, and enjoy interacting with them. They are mostly dogs my size (and I'm 56 pounds, in case you were wondering). You will notice the logo in my photo gallery identifying me as a "hero hound". What is a hero hound, you ask? A "hero hound" is a dog who helps save other pets by donating blood! Many people do not realize what an important role we play in emergency vet care until their own pet needs a blood transfusion. The blood bank Prison Greyhounds partners with treats all of us hero hounds with special care throughout our lives, because they understand what a valuable job we have. When we are no longer eligible to donate, or even if we just simply don't enjoy being donors, we retire and enjoy a life of relaxation. I actually retired quite some time ago, and I have been living out my golden years as a well-loved dog at the blood bank's kennel. But even though I'm welcome to stay, both the kennel staff and Prison Greyhounds believe that after so many years of helping others, we hero hounds have earned a retirement filled with comfy couches and an adopter of our very own! The staff loves getting to know each of us dogs, and the right adopter will understand that we are accustomed to being treated like the heroes we are! That said, being outside the kennel for the first time will be a big change, so I would appreciate an adopter who doesn't mind showing me patience as I learn to be a house pet, including new experiences like going on car rides, using the stairs, and asking to go outside.
