My Story

Cupid is a lovey-dovey Great Pyrenees and Border Collie mix who came into rescue around Valentine’s Day with his siblings Rose and Valentine. All three pups have medium-high energy and prefer being inside with their people, but also love playing in the yard with the other resident dogs. They are working on learning all the skills needed to blossom into wonderful family dogs, like crate training, walking on leash, and house-training. They also love absolutely everyone who comes through the door, regularly meeting new people of all ages! Cupid has the cutest freckles all over his face and legs, and he is a social butterfly - he loves the resident kitty, all his canine foster siblings, and humans who are willing to sneak him some cheese (and even those who won’t)! He’s a gentle and playful boy who is patient with his sisters, and gives his humans the sweetest little kisses! He adores toys, rarely barks, and has been known to crawl his way onto the sofa so he can lay on his person’s chest for a nap! This curious guy is also fascinated by music, and has been known to stop playing so he can watch tv. Cupid’s ideal home will have a secure fenced yard and a canine companion who he can look up to for advice and to help him learn the ropes and routine. He can’t wait to have a family that will allow him to be a cherished member and include him in their activities - Who wants to watch some “Animal Planet” with this cuddly dude?! NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. View the full listing (with location, fee and application link) at HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTABLE-DOGS Completion of an application is required to be considered for any dog. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you. HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTION-APPLICATION/ Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. Transport not available to the West Coast - please see our list of Northwest dogs at https://nationalpyr.org/northwest-region Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
