Hi my name is Daisy and I have a sad story to share. I was actually adopted by this same rescue as a young puppy to a couple in another state, that promised to love me and take care of me. They even told the rescue they had help to take care of me when they went to work. Unfortunately that wasn't true. I will admit was a bit bored and ended up chewing on my plastic tray and other items. Anyone who knows dogs, especailly young ones is that crating them for 12 plus hours is not safe or good for their mental well being. Sadly I developed an obstruction and needed surgery. My past family didn't have the means to help me and were going to euthanize me until they reached out to Ruby Whiskers. Sadly they no longer wanted to keep me or help the rescue pay for the surgery.
I am only a year old and they couldn't see that happen to me. I was rushed to the vet where they performed life saving surgery. I am still recovering but doing well. I need a home that will allow me to rest and recover and help keep my calm while my stitches heal. I am recovering fast and so I won't be long before I can run around and act silly.
So here I am now looking for my new forever home. I do have some requirements becuase I can't go back to living locked up for 12 hours a day. I am looking for a home that may or may not a dog. I can go either way. I would love a home that has reasonable work hours. I understand people need work so they can spoil me rotten. Lot of toys. Maybe a yard to play in. Someone who will shower me with the love I deserve. I am potty trained and crate trained. I do whine when crate only because it reminds me of my past but my new foster says I settle down after a bit.
As you can see my requirements aren't much I just want a new home give me the life I deserve. If interested and ok helping me recover please fill out an application to meet me.
She/He is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Unless the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will only consider applications that are within 1 hour or 40 miles of Lemont, IL. This is due to the required vetting at our partner veterinarians. If the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will allow adoptions out of state or outside of our 1 hour or 40 mile restriction. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within five days of approval.
ADOPTION FEE: $350 (includes spay/neuter must be done when the rescue schedules it at one of our partner vets, microchip, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine, 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease ) and a general wellness which includes dewormer, heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention)
*Please understand that we will spay/neuter no younger than 16 weeks but it is the rescue's discretion when the dog will get that procedure. We know that some veterinarians recommend waiting depending on the breed's projected size but as a rescue, our goal is to prevent further unwanted, "accidental" litters. Spaying and neutering also have many benefits for cancer prevention and avoiding behavioral problems. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay and neuter procedures for cats and dogs as early as 8-16 weeks of age. We always assess and speak with our partner vets when is the best time to perform this procedure.
