My Story

Dawn’s story began in a neighborhood in El Paso, Texas, where the stray dog population was overwhelming, and sadly, some people were intentionally harming these vulnerable animals. When we heard about the heartbreaking loss of numerous dogs in the area, we knew we had to act. We hit the road to meet Dawn and bring her to safety. When we finally met Dawn, her timid eyes and cautious demeanor spoke volumes about the hardships she had faced. We gently loaded her and a few of her companions, into the car, and set off on the long road back to Arizona, knowing we were giving her a second chance at life. This 8-month-old Doberman/Shepherd mix is shy and reserved, but beneath her hesitation is a heart full of hope. Since arriving, Dawn has had professional training to help her build confidence and trust. She made amazing progress and continues to blow us away with how much she learned through her training. While she takes things slowly, each moment of progress reveals more of her gentle spirit and quiet resilience. Dawn is bonded with her sister Delta and they will be adopted out as a bonded pair. They are looking for a loving, patient home where they can feel safe and grow at their own pace. If you have a soft spot for gentle souls and want to see Dawn and Delta blossom in a home full of love, please submit an adoption application through our website at skysanctuaryrescue.org/applications. We’d love to arrange a meet-and-greet and help Dawn and Delta find the forever family she truly deserves.
