My Story

Meet Diva! Diva is a sweet, 5-year-old girl weighing in at 55 lbs. With her gentle demeanor and playful spirit, she's a true companion for those looking for a loyal and affectionate pet. While Diva can be a bit timid in new situations, especially outside the shelter, she quickly opens up once she feels safe and loved. She's medium to lower energy, meaning after a good walk, she'll be content to relax and settle down. Diva walks beautifully on a leash, with only a light pull when something catches her interest-like wildlife, a curious dog, or a human she wants to inspect. With a gentle "leave it" command or a little distance, she's easy to redirect and continues her walk happily. Diva loves car rides! She'll happily hop into the car if you sit with her in the back. She's a little affectionate soul who loves to give kisses and may occasionally grumble when she's settling in, but she's easily soothed and will calm down quickly. A shorter tether is ideal, as she loves being close and giving love to her people. This sweet girl is attentive and adores receiving affection. During walks, she'll frequently stop for some extra reassurance, enjoying gentle pets and attention. Diva may initially be a little cautious around men, but with some tasty treats, she'll warm up quickly and show her true loving nature. She's a little bit motivated by treats and toys, and she already knows how to "sit" on command. Diva's favorite toys are a sturdy rope toy and a hard bone, which she enjoys chewing on. She's also fully house-trained-no accidents here! She even knows to go to the door when she needs to go out. If you're looking for a gentle, loving companion who will bring joy to your home, Diva just might be the perfect fit! She's ready to start her new chapter in a loving home, where she can continue to thrive and share her sweet affection. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
