My Story
What can I say? I am a GREAT dog! I am 7 years old. Don't let my looks fool you. I look older than I am. I am a VERY active dog and have a great personality. I get along GREAT with dogs and LOVE people. I am crate trained, though I am not great about going in without a treat or my dinner. I am housebroken as well. I sleep through the night and am easy keep as to where I sleep. I sleep in a crate, on a bed next to the bed, or sometimes I hop up in bed with my foster mom if she lets me.
I came to my foster home after a long stray hold in a rural community. I am not sure how I ended up there, but I am ready for my new home. I had a few bad habits to start with, but now that I am used to being in a home, they have diminished. I was a champion counter surfer, but as long as stuff isn't within my reach, I don't even bother to look. Also, when I get bored in my crate, I do like to grab stuff and drag it inside. I entertain myself by chewing it apart. My foster mom keeps things out of my reach now.
I do have a very melodious, houndy voice. I only use it when I am outside and there is a furry creature invading my territory. I don't use it often though but it is loud!
I love to hang out outside. If you have a fenced yard, it would be awesome, but not necessary. I also love to go for walks. Sniffing is so much fun. I do great in the car too. I ride nicely in a crate in the back of my foster mom's van.
Being a hound, I can be a bit stubborn about things. But I am also food motivated, so if I get stubborn, a treat will usually get me to go where you want me to.
Please note - we always take our animals back if for some reason it doesn't work in your home so we only adopt to the following Illinois and Indiana counties: Boone, Cook, Dekalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, Lake Cook, Indiana McHenry and Will.
