My Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Female basset hound available through Dogwood Animal RescueDarling Dottie is not a GGBR dog. She is listed here as a courtesy for Dogwood Animal Rescue in Santa Rosa, CA. For more information, or to apply to adopt Dottie, please contact Dogwood Animal Rescue. www.dogwoodanimalrescue.org This lovely Basset Mama was an unclaimed shelter stray who had clearly recently nursed a litter. One of the awesome Dogwood Animal Rescue contacts was at the shelter and saw her and reached out for help. The rescue said yes and she's with Dogwood Animal Rescue now. Dottie is settling into her foster home, decompressing and just relaxing after what has been an eventful few days. She's sweet as can be, greeting other dogs and humans with tail wags, and she loves nothing more than to cuddle up next to you on the couch. Although still a little cautious Dottie is as sweet as they come. She shows excitement by hopping around on all fours, especially at dinner time! Dottie seems totally house trained and we don't know her history. We do find that a lot of formerly outdoor only dogs are almost naturally housetrained because their HABIT is going potty outside. She's underweight now at 34 pounds and appears to be young adult of maybe 3 years old. Do your research before applying. This is a wonderful breed but can be prone to baying and following their nose.
