My Story

FOSTERED IN: Oak Forest, IL 60452 ESTIMATED DOB: 2015 WEIGHT: 14lbs KIDS: Older DOGS: Yes CATS: Yes HISTORY: Dotty came to us from an animal control facility. We do not have any information on her background. ABOUT: Dotty’s foster home describes her as: Easygoing, adorable, attention-seeking, quiet, wonderful, and food motivated. Dotty is a little timid with new people, but quickly becomes comfortable and shows off her fantastic personality. Dotty loves attention and will hop up on the couch next to you. She sleeps on a dog bed on the floor in her foster home, but they think she would happily sleep on the bed with you if that is your preference. Dotty’s foster keeps her on a regular potty schedule and she has not had any accidents. Dotty does excellently on leash, she only pulls a tiny bit at times, but easily responds to a verbal correction. She is also fantastic in the car, she will jump in herself and take her seat on the passenger side and makes no attempt to “help” the driver. Dotty is overall a quiet dog. She will bark on occasion for things her foster considers very normal and appropriate (and many owners would appreciate). She only whines when she gets excited at the best time of the day - meal time! Her adopter would need to take care to keep her at a healthy weight. Despite loving food, she is a bit of a princess and won’t eat plain, dry kibble. She likes something delicious added in like canned food. Dotty is not crated while her foster is home and has been very well behaved. She does like to take items that smell like her foster (like clothing or a slipper) and put them in her bed, but she never chews them - she is a collector who takes good care of her items. Dotty knows “sit pretty” and “shake” – And her sit pretty is about the cutest thing ever, if you ask us. She isn’t much into toys, but will chase a ball on occasion. She’s a nice medium energy dog who loves walks and running around the yard, but is calm and well behaved in the house. She would make a great walking companion in the nice weather. Although Dotty is very friendly, she is a bit timid, so she will do best around older children who are more calm and predictable. Dotty is being fostered with a cat, she tried to chase once, after a few days, but a correction put a quick and permanent stop to it. Her foster home believes Dotty just wanted to play, so she might be a great companion for a playful cat. Dotty is being fostered with another dog and has had frequent overnight canine friends and has done well with all of them. She might enjoy it if another dog would invite her to play, but hasn’t initiated much on her own. Dotty would prefer to have her own eating area. Dotty was fantastic at the groomer, even for the nail trim and tooth brushing! Dogs like this don’t last long! If you are looking for a medium energy companion, who might put your shirts in her bed, Dotty is your girl!
