My Story

Don’t let the size fool you—Doug is just a giant baby with a marshmallow heart. This sweet, goofy 1-year-old, 80lb gentle giant still thinks he’s lap-sized and will happily curl up on you for comfort or attention. If you’ve ever wanted a dog who looks like a linebacker but acts like a toddler in a dog costume, Doug is your guy. Doug's Personality in a Nutshell: - Loving, loyal, and ridiculously affectionate - Thinks “personal space” means “your lap” - Friendly with everyone**—humans, dogs of all sizes, even your neighbor’s lawn guy - Best with kids 10+ due to his size and complete lack of spatial awareness High-Energy, High-Fun, and Hilariously Clueless Doug is a high-energy goofball who thrives when he has room to run, jump, and just be his ridiculous self. He’s not afraid of anything—he’s just kind of… well, a loveable doofus. He’ll chase shadows, leap into bushes, and jump around like he’s starring in his own action movie. It’s all part of his charm. He LOVES the dog park and makes friends easily. Long hikes in safe off-leash spaces are right up his alley. He’s not a fan of busy sidewalks or crowded areas, but give him a quiet trail or big open space and he’s living his best life. A Puppy in a Big Dog Body Doug is still learning how to dog. He loves toys (especially balls), has a goofy sense of humor, and plays with a mix of enthusiasm and zero coordination. He means well—he just hasn’t quite grown into his legs yet. Home Life & Training -House trained and crate trained -Knows sit, down, stay, and is working hard on leash skills - Learning quickly and eager to please - Would thrive with someone committed to keeping up with his training and channeling his energy in fun, structured ways . fill out an adoption application to meet him! —Doug is ready to be your favorite kind of ridiculous. https://www.welcomehomesanctuary.org/adoption-application
