My Story

Dover is 75 pounds of a puppyish, playful attitude mixed with a chill, calm, old soul demeanor. He is a 2 to 3 year-old Black Lab mix. He may have applications in progress, but is currently available. Dover's family says he is the loviest, sweetest, smartest, easiest dog they have ever fostered. He is a Golden Retriever personality in a Black Lab body. His foster family calls him Slurp because he has sooooo many kisses to give. He knows sit and is quickly catching onto other basic commands. His whistle recall never fails, and his self-control and composure around cats and squirrels is outstanding. Dover loves playing with his foster dog brother and doesn't pull on the leash when out on walks. He is mostly house-trained, which is great because it's suspected he was an outside dog previously. He hasn't met a stranger or a couch he didn't like and he's very food motivated to make you proud during training. He has some puppyish desires to chew on things he shouldn't - socks, pillows, shoes - but is easily redirected to a bone or dog toy. There have been no signs of any kind of aggressive behavior around adults, teens, kids, cats and no resource guarding around food. He loves to wrestle with other dogs and run around the yard. He is drawn to the pond at his foster family home so would probably naturally love swimming. His foster family says he is extremely intelligent, a little goofy, and just 100% happy. They describe him as "pure perfection". Adoption fee is $375 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, fecal/deworming, vaccines and prevention up to date. Ohio residents only. STS is a foster-based and volunteer-run rescue. We do not have a physical location or set hours for you to meet dogs, and it does take time to answer each inquiry. All dogs are in foster homes and once an application is approved and a home visit is completed you will be able to schedule meet and greets with available dogs. We encourage interested individuals to get approved prior to searching as it helps expedite the process. A Petfinder inquiry is not a substitute for an application.
