My Story

YOU MUST HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION IN ORDER TO MEET OUR PETS. Dudley was born on 9/2/19 in New York. His owner has had him since he was eight weeks old. He is a Shih Tzu, Schnauzer, Yorkie mix. He weighs about 32 pounds. He does not shed and has been groomed every 10 weeks. Dudley likes to be walked three times a day. He walks nicely on his leash. He had been happy and spoiled since his owner was retired and at home most of the time. He was also always allowed to sleep in the human bed and on the sofa. He’s a snuggler and enjoys being around people. Dudley knows sit and stay and he does come when he is called. He has been a great dog for his current owner. However, once she moved in with her daughter’s family, he has become jealous of/unhappy with the two year old granddaughter. No food aggression at all. He takes treats very nicely from the 2 year old and he doesn’t take food off of plates if you have a snack around on a coffee table, etc. Dudley has shown some unwanted warning behavior towards the 2 year old granddaughter and other little kids if they run by him or are too active. He is obviously uncomfortable. It seems to be just as a warning, but Dudley will not be placed in a home with children who are five years old or younger since he is not comfortable with the sudden, unpredictable movements of very young children. He is fine with calm children who ignore him. He is uncomfortable/nervous when children pet him so should not be forced to accept attention from small children. Dudley simply prefers a calmer home in which his personal space is respected by smaller humans. He grew up with cats and was fine with them. He does like most other dogs (he currently lives with a golden retriever). He is a little dominant so sometimes he has trouble with other males. Never gotten into a fight he just snarls a bit to show his place. Dudley is housetrained. He prefers to do his business when you are with him, even if you have a fenced yard. He likes company and may not potty if you just let him out on his own in the back yard. His prior owner regularly brought him to the vet and will make sure he is up to date on all vaccines before rehoming. He is already microchipped. He will make a great companion for an adults only family or one with older teens. Adoption donation $200. Please note that we do not ship animals. We also require a home visit before finalizing any adoptions so preference is given to applicants within a 90 mile range. You will be required to come to High Point, NC to meet/pick up your new pet.
