Meet Duke! Duke is a 5-year-old, 55-lb, 100% Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler) who loves being a shadow dog and would make an incredibly loyal friend! Duke is a certainly a Heeler! He is incredibly smart and can solve dog toy puzzles in record time. He is fun to train and catches on quickly to new skills. Duke is crate trained, completely house trained and knows how to "place on a cot. He would love the opportunity to learn even more tricks and useful skills! Along with his intelligence comes a wariness of new people. Duke needs lots of time to warm up to strangers and does best when new people give him the space that he needs. Duke's loyalty to his people can manifest in being protective when strangers are around. Duke will need to be adopted into a home without children as young kids do not always understand his boundaries. Duke loves going for walks and checking out his environment. He is still learning how to be polite when cars and bicycles pass by, but he could certainly improve in this area with more practice! He would love to have a yard with a fence where he could run around and exert some energy. His favorite game is fetch, and he is impressively agile at catching the ball!
