Duke is a handsome, sweet 2 year old beagle with a heart full of potential just waiting to blossom in the right home. He’s quite shy and timid in new places and with new people, but with patience, love, and a cozy spot to call his own, Duke will warm up and reward you with his unique charm. This special boy needs an adopter who understands that trust takes time. Duke thrives with other dogs, so he’ll need a playful pup sibling to show him the ropes and bring out his happy, tail-wagging side. He's fine with cats too. A secure fence is a must. Oh, and he is a professional armchair stealer, so be ready! We know it can take time to bond with a dog like Duke, so we offer an adoption trial period to make sure it’s a good fit. With patience and commitment, we trust in time you will see him transform into the loyal, playful companion he’s meant to be. Duke is fine with kids but they've got to understand that Duke is not going to be the cuddly dog that wants their attention and touch. If little ones chase him he will just run from them. Duke is neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. We conduct virtual meet and greets for out-of-town applicants and can provide for transport (fee added to cost of adoption) to many northeastern states. At this time we are not able to transport into Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine or Rhode Island.
