Duke

Looking for a fierce and loyal protector? Duke is your guy! This big guy was surrendered to a local county shelter when his owner underwent a major life change and could no longer care for him. :( Duke is housebroken, crate trained and overall a very well mannered dog. He walks well on a leash, knows "sit" and we are working on other basic commands. His biggest drawback is leash pulling when he sees something he wants (Duke has very high prey drive) so a strong handler willing to work with him on this is a must. Duke is highly intelligent, he listens well, and is very food motivated making training quite easy despite his stubbornness. He loves other dogs, and currently lives in a foster home with a large male lab, two medium sized mixed breed females and two Chihuahuas. All he wants to do is play, so a home with other large breed dogs would can handle his larger than life energy would be ideal. Due to his size and lack of the concept of personal space we don't recommend a home with young children. Duke has an incredibly high prey drive and should not be in a home with cats, rabbits or small livestock such as chickens. He is scheduled to be neutered on 4/30 and will be fully vetted and ready to go at that time. He is fully vaccinated, microchipped and flea and parasite free.
