01/14/2025 Duke IX is an owner surrender looking for a new home. Hi! My name is Duke IX ! I am a handsome 8 year old flashy fawn boy that is an owner surrender due to a family member's decline in health and my family is unable to care for me any longer. My Silver Heart sister, Laila V, is also available for adoption and because we are a bonded pair, it is important that we be adopted together. Laila is a proud member of the rescue's Silver Heart Program so be sure to ask about it because there are a lot of perks for our adoptive family! I am described as friendly, active, smart, calm, playful, affectionate, and obedient! I am dog friendly but have not lived with cats so it is unsure if I am feline friendly. I currently live with a 2 year old human kid and do well with him! I am house trained, crate trained, and at night I sleep on a dog bed. When the humans must be away I get lonely and sad because I love being with them. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences. I am fearful of loud noises such as thunder or fireworks. Some of my favorite things are chew toys, tug of war ropes, squeaky toys, playing fetch, exploring outside, smelling new scents, being active, tasty snacks, special treats, puzzle feeders, belly rubs, ear scratches, and quality time with the humans!
