My Story

Dutch is a handsome Chihuahua / Dachshund (“Chiweenie”) mix who is approximately 4 - 4.5 years old and weighs 17 pounds. This sweet guy was found as a stray in south Texas near the border of Mexico. We aren’t sure how he found himself in that situation, but all of that is behind him now! He is just the nicest dog with the most wonderful disposition. Dutch has a great personality and loves everyone he meets. He is small, mighty and is eager to make new friends! He LOVES playing with his toys and gets along well with the other dogs in his play group here at the rescue. He has puppies and some youngsters in his group and loves to romp around with them. He is truly a happy, playful dog with a lot of love to share. He will be a loving and loyal companion, ready to go on a walk to explore the neighborhood or just curl up next to you on the couch to watch a movie. We just love this little bundle of personality and can’t wait for him to find his forever home! He is neutered, up to date on all shots, microchipped and his adoption fee is $400. The fee includes the transport cost. *Dutch tested positive for Chagas disease and has been on Dr Madigans protocol since October 2023 with zero complications! Dr Madigan recommends the treatment for one year, so he is more than half way through his treatment plan! This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs.
