My Story
FOREVER HOME NEEDED:
There’s a new man in town, and we call him: Old Man Fergus. Okay, Fergus isn’t that old actually – he’s an 11-year-old, Chihuahua with plenty of life left in him. He came to us searching for the peaceful life after a rough & tumble history in the wild west of California. So, we’re going to help him find the peace he deserves!
Fergus isn’t the prettiest dog. Well, except his face. His sweet face is the stuff of angels, so peaceful and beautiful. You could be having a rotten day, but when you rest your eyes on his peaceful visage, all your irritation will melt away and all will be right with the world again.
The rest of him has seen better days. (If you’re an older person, we know you can relate.) As is sometimes seen with senior dogs, his eyes are a little cloudy, but he can still see okay, and he can definitely hear fine. He was given a preliminary exam by a vet when he arrived at the vet in CA and they found he has several cutaneous warts/skin tags but the vet feels that they are unlikely to be cancerous. Sometimes he favors his rear right left but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying walks. Sadly, it looks as though no one ever cared enough to housetrain him, but he will willingly do his business outside when given the chance. He’s also highly motivated by treats, so he is coming along with house training in his foster home!
What’s not lacking in any way is his sweet personality. He is unbelievably trusting and loving; and he comes alive when you show him one of those little squeaky tennis balls. We’re positive he was a champion baller back in the day! He will happily gnaw on his squeaky ball or pounce after it if you throw it gently. Little squeaky tennis balls bring him great joy. Speaking of great joy, his other favorite thing is: you. He happily follows his person around from room to room and loves cuddling and snoozing.
Fergus is a super easy dog – he snoozes, explores outside, snoozes some more, happily goes out on walks, and enjoys being a passenger on errands, especially to all the coffee/bank/pharmacy drive-thru’s that hand out pup cups or dog bones. Despite his long and colorful past, he is grateful for snuggles, blankets, dog beds, the warm sun, and kindness.
But especially squeaky balls.
Fergus is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $300.
