My Story

Ferrah is a very happy girl and a true beauty. This sweetheart was an unclaimed stray with her sister and brother at a local shelter. She’s currently underweight, but with consistent meals and a warm home that includes plenty of love, she should reach at least 90 lbs as an adult. Ferrah is working on house training, is non-destructive, and loves her blanket and treats. Like most Pyrs, she has a medium activity level and enjoys exploring and playing in the yard. Cats are ok, too - when introduced, she allowed them to rub their heads on her nose while she sniffed them. She truly loves people and soaks up all the petting and conversations with them. She wants her person’s whole attention and will reward it with a lean into them to be sure they know how much she appreciates them. She is great at grooming time, enjoying all the attention, and is content in a crate. She would be satisfied as an only dog or with an older, calmer male. Ferrah will need a 5-foot secure fenced yard as she loves to explore and run and jump, having so much fun! Ferrah dreams of a home with an active family who enjoys playing along with her in the yard, and showing her what it means to be loved. She would enjoy joining her family while hiking the trails or walking the neighborhood. Everything will be new to this girl, but she is so sweet and truly enjoys life. Ferrah will warm her way into her family’s heart in no time! NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. View the full listing (with location, fee and application link) at HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTABLE-DOGS Completion of an application is required to be considered for any dog. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you. HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTION-APPLICATION/ Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
