My Story
This handsome fella is Finnegan, Finn to his friends. He’s 3 ½ years old, neutered, and looking for his forever home.
Finn’s original owner passed away when he was a little over a year old, and the man’s wife was unable to care for Finn, so a family friend adopted him. He’s a great dog, very loving and friendly, but he’s been aggressive towards one of the other dogs in the home (shepherd mix) and the situation has become difficult as the other dog is a senior now. He gets along fine with the third dog in the home, but needs to be kept separated from the shepherd.
Finn is very food motivated and has basic obedience (sit, down) and walks well on leash, but sometimes has leash reactivity towards other dogs, and will also lunge at bicyclists that pass by. He loves the water hose too.
He is house trained, crate trained (he does fine loose in the house when no one’s home), and respects baby gates too. He rides well in the car, although does tend to lunge at other cars passing, etc., so he’s crated in the car. His owner says “Finn is a wonderful dog, he is loving, happy to see us and a ball of energy. He loves to play/follow around outside while we’re working/doing chores.”
Finn lives with a cat and while he loves to chase the cat, he doesn’t harm him. He’s been around horses and sheep, but his owner shared that he is NOT good around livestock, so would be best in a home without livestock. Finn has allergies (IBD) and is on a restricted diet and does very well on his food.
Finn is looking for a home with an experienced Rottweiler owner, preferably where he’s the only dog. He’s not been raised around young children, and though he’s friendly with people, would do best with kids over age 12. He would thrive with some force free obedience training to iron out the rough spots (leash reactivity) and would benefit from fun activities with his human like scent work or barn hunt, hiking and sniffaris.
