My Story

Age/Birthdate: 2yrs • Expected Weight: 60-65lbs• Breed Guess: Lab Mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adopt fee: Location:Lemont,IL Any Special Medical or Special Needs: Temperament with: Dogs:Good Cats:Good, indifferent Children list specific ages: none in foster home but he would be fine. Strangers:Good Training Needs: Crate Trained:Yes Potty Trained:Yes Hey there, I’m Finn! I’m a 2-year-old Lab mix with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging. When I first arrived at the rescue, I was underweight, but thanks to some love and good meals, I’m now healthy, happy, and ready to find my forever home! I’m a playful guy who gets along great with other dogs, and while I haven’t met many kids yet, I just know I’d love to play with them. I’m also pretty chill around cats—I just do my own thing! I’m outgoing and love meeting new people (the more friends, the better!). I know some basic commands like sit, stay, come, and no, and I’m both potty-trained and crate-trained. That said, I don’t need to be crated when left alone—I’m totally trustworthy and never get into trouble. I do get excited on walks and sometimes pull on the leash, especially when I see other dogs or people I’d like to say hi to. I’m also a big fan of treats, which makes training fun. And speaking of favorites, I love my stuffed toys—I carry them around like treasures and even bring one with me on walks! Playing fetch, cuddling on the couch, and clicking my teeth when I get excited (yes, it’s adorable!) are just a few of my quirks. My ideal home? One with an active family, maybe some kids or a dog sibling to play with, and someone who will take me on fun adventures. Whether it’s playing outside, going on walks, or just snuggling up on the couch, I’m all in! Think we’d be a great match? I’d love to meet you! This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason. If the dog or puppy is not yet fully vetted, we can only consider applications from adopters within an hour's drive or 40 miles of Lemont, IL, due to required vet visits at our partner veterinarians. For fully vetted dogs or puppies, we welcome applications from out-of-state or beyond the 40-mile radius. Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval. Breed and Age Information: Unless the puppy was born in our care, we cannot guarantee the breed or age. Breed and age estimates are based on veterinary advice, shelter records, physical appearance, and information provided by previous owners. Adoption Fee: $350 The adoption fee includes: Spay/neuter (performed at one of our partner veterinarians as scheduled by the rescue) Microchip Rabies vaccine DHPP vaccine Bordetella vaccine 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease) General wellness care, including deworming, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention Your adoption fee also helps support medical care for other rescue animals, including heartworm treatments, surgeries, and emergency care. Spay/Neuter Policy: We spay/neuter dogs at 16 weeks or older, at the discretion of the rescue and in consultation with our partner veterinarians. While some veterinarians recommend delaying the procedure based on a breed’s projected size, as a rescue, our primary goal is to prevent unwanted litters. Spaying and neutering also provide significant health benefits, including cancer prevention and reducing behavioral issues. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay/neuter for cats and dogs as early as 8–16 weeks. We carefully assess each case to determine the best timing for the procedure. Interested in Adopting? Submit an adoption application at www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt
