Meet FREYA
Freya is a fabulous sweet petite English Bulldog girl, who has a lengthy journey.
Freya was originally an owned dog, purchased as a puppy from a backyard breeder.
She grew up in a family of 2 young children and did wonderful with them. Freya loves kids!!
As is the case with many dogs from backyard breeders, Freya comes with a lot of additional medical complications, that can be difficult to manage. As a result, Freya ended up with an independent “rescuer” who did more harm with her since he was not feeding her correctly and addressing her severe digestive issues.
We have a love for this breed and agreed to take her into our rescue in order to prevent more harm being done to her health.
Thanks to several wonderful fosters, some of whom are veterinary office professionals and who helped and guided our efforts to properly diagnose and treat Freya, she is now a healthy and happy girl and ready for her forever family.
She is a healthy (though petite) weight of 30lbs, is fully vaccinated, heartworm negative and has been spayed and microchipped.
Freya has been diagnosed with a pancreatic insufficiency and requires careful food choices and a pancreatic enzyme to help her body digest foods properly.
Freya is small, but mighty.
She is very much a people dog. She loves people and smaller dogs.
When it comes to bigger dogs she has to be slowly introduced and she will gradually warm up to them.
Due to her dealing with EPI she does get protective over her food and usually needs to be fed separately in her crate.
Her diet currently consists of premade cooked food mixed with kibble and topped with her enzymes and b12 capsule.
When it comes to her food it can be with grain or grain free, but has to have fiber below 4%.
Currently she is being fed 150% of what she would normally get to help her put on weight.
For the most part she is potty trained, but does have accidents sometimes, especially if not let out after she eats. Her digestive system works very rapidly due to her pancreatic issues, so she needs to go potty right after she eats.
Freya is a very active girl, now that she is getting her nutrients and she absolutely loves toys.
We haven’t found one yet that she can’t tear up.
Freya is looking for a loving forever family, who can handle her health needs and make sure she gets the correct food and enzymes to keep her healthy.
She has the most mesmerizing, large, soulful amber eyes and ridiculously cute underbite.
She would love a home with children and smaller dog siblings.
She’s a very social and loving girl who will be a loyal companion and give you many years of fun, love and silly antics.
Freya is currently being fostered in Texas but available to transport to approved adopter in the Midwest, Northeast and Canada.
Adoption fee includes vaccinations, Spay/Neuter, microchip, deworming, heartworm test.
