My Story

Age/Birthdate:03/08/2024• Expected Weight:30- 40lbs • Breed Guess: Pit Mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adopt fee: $350 Location:La Grange, IL Any Special Medical or Special Needs: No Temperament with: Dogs:Good need slow intro Cats:Very curious but also hesitant Children list specific ages: Very good with children Strangers:Outgoing Training Needs: Crate Trained:Yes Potty Trained:Yes Hi, I’m Gamma! I’m a 30 lb Pit mix full of love, energy, and snuggles. If you’re looking for a velcro dog, I’m your girl—I’ll follow you everywhere and always want to be touching you. Personal space? Never heard of it! I absolutely love people, including kids, but I do get excited and may jump up, so I might need a slow introduction if little ones are nervous. With dogs, I’m a bit hesitant at first, but once I warm up, I’m ready to play! I haven’t lived with cats, but I’m very curious about them. I’m already potty trained and crate trained, and I know commands like “sit,” “lay,” “paw,” and even how to wait patiently in my crate—even if the door is open! I do pull a bit on walks, especially if I see other dogs or people, but I’m working on it. I love playing with toys (especially ripping the stuffing out of stuffies), running zoomies around the house, and snuggling up after a long day of fun. I also love food—maybe a little too much! I eat fast and will try to steal snacks if you’re not watching, but my foster mom is teaching me to wait patiently before meals and treats. My ideal forever home would be with an active family, maybe with kids or another pup to play with. As long as I have someone to hang out with and keep me entertained, I’m a happy girl. Oh, and get ready for lots of head tilts—I love taking in the world around me with my curious little expressions! Could I be your new best friend? She/He is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Unless the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will only consider applications that are within 1 hour or 40 miles of Lemont, IL. This is due to the required vetting at our partner veterinarians. If the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will allow adoptions out of state or outside of our 1 hour or 40 mile restriction. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within five days of approval. ADOPTION FEE: $350 (includes spay/neuter must be done when the rescue schedules it at one of our partner vets, microchip, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine, 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease ) and a general wellness which includes dewormer, heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention) *Please understand that we will spay/neuter no younger than 16 weeks but it is the rescue's discretion when the dog will get that procedure. We know that some veterinarians recommend waiting depending on the breed's projected size but as a rescue, our goal is to prevent further unwanted, "accidental" litters. Spaying and neutering also have many benefits for cancer prevention and avoiding behavioral problems. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay and neuter procedures for cats and dogs as early as 8-16 weeks of age. We always assess and speak with our partner vets when is the best time to perform this procedure. Interested? Submit an adoption application at www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt
