My Story

Gertie has a sad story.  She lived with her former owner all her life and at the age of 14 her owner was diagnosed with cancer and could no longer care for Gertie.  She found herself left at a local animal shelter.  HART for Animals took her in and gave her a badly needed dental.  Gertie is a little hard of hearing and seeing, but she is full of life and affection.  Gertie needs a soft landing and lots of love to spend her remaining days.  She weighs 22 lbs and is housebroken.  She gets along fine with other dogs and cats.  Do you have space in your home and heart for this girl? Please Note:  You must live within a 175-mile radius of our facility to be considered for adoption. To fill out an online application to adopt this pet, cut and paste this link:  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/2627/generic You can also find a link to our online adoption application on our website at www.hartforanimals.org/adopt - or our Petfinder homepage.  We process applications in the order they are received, therefore, it could take UP TO 2 weeks for us to respond to your application. Please do not send us an inquiry unless you have specific questions. All our dogs and puppies are spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies, Bordetella, and distemper/parvo, given flea medication, heartworm/Lyme tested, and given a microchip before going to their new home.
