Bio: Gimpy is a resilient and spirited tripod pup with a heart full of love and a personality that shines despite the odds. This sweet boy came into our care at just 3 weeks old after being surrendered to the shelter when his mom would no longer nurse him due to his leg being tied off with fishing wire. Gimpy has overcome so much already. Today he’s a happy, playful puppy thriving in his foster home. He’s been socialized with dogs of all sizes and ages. He gets along well with all dogs. While he can be a little possessive of his food (typical puppy behavior!), he’s learning to share with proper guidance and is making great progress. This special boy would do well in a home with adopters who are patient and understanding of his puppy energy and sharp little teeth. Gimpy has already seen our vet and while he uses his left leg to compensate for his missing right leg, there is no need for surgery. We used a brace to support his leg early on and he’s doing great and on track for proper development. Gimpy may be a tripod but he’s just like any other puppy—full of curiosity, joy and all the love to give. He’s ready to find his forever family, one who knows that special doesn’t mean less. Gimpy cannot be altered until 6 months of age and his adopters will work with rescue to have this completed at age appropriate time.
