Gretal

Meet Gretal! She is a very sensitive girl who is just learning how to be someone’s dog. She prefers a quiet environment with the ability to take her time on getting to know her space, to find out what comforts her, and to understand the love and affection she could receive from a human. As of right now, Gretal is very wary (but not aggressive) of human touch. Often when we approach, she will move away or get up. We have petted her a little bit, but she still needs time to learn that pets are good and a sign of affection. We have been working on getting her used to walking on a slip lead but she is not yet completely comfortable with it. Our perceived best environment/home for her: -Quieter home with one or two adults, older children -Owners that are willing to watch her evolve and will provide her with consistency and patience as that happens -Space for a crate indoors -Fenced in yard with dog door access -Home where people are there most of the time -Home with other dogs, preferably males -Home where she can be on the couch or have space for a cozy bed What she has learned: -Going in and out from her kennel to her yard -The beginnings of crate training What she needs to learn: -Having a collar put on -Walking with the leash -Being comfortable with intentional touch and pets from humans -What it's like living in a home setting Overall, Gretal is a sweet loving dog who just needs to find her fur-ever home!
