My Story

Meet Hadley! Hadley came to us from a partner shelter in Kentucky after being chained outside to a doghouse for 2 years. Hadley and her 7 puppies were rescued! She is a boxer mix and is estimated to be about 2 years old and weighs 53 pounds. Hadley was VERY nervous in the shelter environment so she quickly went into a foster home where she is learning that she is safe and loved. Her soulful brown eyes are sure to steal your heart. Hadley has come far in her foster home. When she was first brought home, she was afraid to walk in the door and any noise would startle her. Hadley loves to go for walks but when outside, she's always alert, and vehicle noises and especially sirens still scare her. She is good on leash and doesn’t pull (unless she’s scared or sees a squirrel!). Hadley loves playing with foster siblings and plays almost non stop with them. Hadley is learning how to be a confident dog and we think that she would be best in a home with another active and playful sibling for her to romp around with. Hadley loves to run around the yard with her fur siblings and chase them. She still gets anxious with loud noises, often running to the gate to try to get away from them. Hadley will need a fenced in yard to help her stay safe and to let her run around and play to her heart’s content! She still occasionally tries to bolt out the door when leaving, so a home with children ages 12 and up that are responsible with dog safety and opening of doors is required. Hadley takes a few days to adjust to new surroundings. Once she does she will shower you with kisses and snuggles. She really just wants to be loved. She is potty trained. She does not love going to the bathroom on leash, but eventually she does adjust. She has never had an accident in the house. Hadley really is the sweetest girl. We wish we could change the first few years of her life, but all we can do is show her she is safe and loved and find her the perfect forever home where she can play all day and be showered with the unconditional love she deserves! Please check back for updates as we get to know Hadley even better! Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process and our adoption application. *** Email [email protected] for next steps! *** • All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots. • We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting. • You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF. • We require a 4-foot-tall physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog’s behavior and exercise needs. • Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences. • We do request vet and personal references. • We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
