Hans

Sweet little Hans came to us from Tuolumne County Animal Control where he was turned in as an injured stray. He came to us with injuries consistent with an animal attack, and we suspect it may have been a larger dog or predator. Hans has come a long way in his recovery both physically and emotionally. His wounds are almost completely healed, but he will likely have some scarring (around his head and neck). He's submissive, but happy to have visitors and may give you a submissive smile when you first say hello. We've learned Hans wants to be close to people, but he will need some time to trust, so don't be surprised if he runs away or finds a corner to sit in at first. Hans enjoys sitting next to those he knows for pets and gentle talks, and is learning to enjoy his walks (he prefers them at a leisurely pace). So far Hans has shown a preference to stay away from other dogs, but that could change if one is easy-going enough and gives him space to trust them. He has hung out with our lobby cats successfully and might do well with cat friends in his new home if you have any. Stop by during open hours to spend time with Hans and get to know him, it'll be worthwhile! His caretakers can help answer any questions you may have. Hans is estimated to be 4 years old and weighs 12 pounds. All dogs/puppies will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated according to age, dewormed, heartworm tested negative, and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention before adoption unless otherwise noted for age or health reasons.
